This is a block print  assignment (on sari) and I took inspiration from sea shells. The process was quite elaborate. I derived numerous motifs and then converted them into a well balanced design. I ended up having one all over, two borders and two buttas carved on wood. The next step was to try various layouts for the body and pallu on newsprint sheets. I bought my sari and did a colour sampling on a similar fabric.  After finalising the colours and borders I had my final piece!
